Our translator, Dr. Lloyd Sparks an American physician practicing medicine in Debrecen, first came to Hungary smuggling bibles in the 70’s. According to him the gentleman you see in this picture was the pastor at the time, the church was ‘underground,’ and Csaba, the current pastor, was just a teenager. A lot of things have changed in Hungary during the last thirty years. It was fascinating to see these faithful elders who held the course during oppression, revolution and now constant change.
